CopyrightWhen June comes to call, some people like to look back at the first half of the year and see where they came from as they plot the way forward through the rest of the year. Here at the Belltown Burlesque Revue we not only approve of this approach, we’re going to do it one better! We’re going to spend an evening looking at the roots of the neo burlesque movement through the lens of classic burlesque! It’s an evening of tributes to those who laid the foundation we dance upon and a celebration of the classic bump and grind.

Taxes this year are due on Monday, April 15th. We know a lot of you may be working late the weekend before to get them all done and in on time. We appreciate that. So after you’ve finished carrying the one and referencing table A on document 1086, we think you should reward yourself with a little shimmy, some bump and grind, and some of Seattle’s amazing burlesque performers. We’ll even start later for you. On Saturday, April 13th, we'll be staying late for Sunday's Early Edition of the Belltown Burlesque Revue. Some may call it a late show, starting at 11:00 pm and doors opening at 10:30 pm, we consider this the extra early Sunday Morning Edition. Either way, it'll be an amazing way to enter into the new week.

CopyrightAs the reality storm comes to a head seek refuge at Worlds' End and stay for the stories

Join us for an extravaganza of clever and sassy homage to the many worlds of Neil Gaiman, a prolific writer with notable works spanning comic books, novels, children's books and stories, television series, and film. With genres ranging from fantasy to science fiction and the occasional epic children's tale, the stories you'll see are quite diverse.

The tales involve a goddess, Beldam and her doll, the heart of a blue box, a young woman who is far older than she appears, an enslaved faerie, the very essence of dreams personified, and more.

Performing for you on these June nights are Ms. Vixen Valentine, Kendra Hayes, Candy Apples, Miss Violet DeVille, Ivy DuPri, Czech Mate, Miss Penelope Rose, Morgue Anne, Stella Vaughn, Lana Milk-n-Honey, and Pacific Syren. CopyrightThe month of March is a month with a reputation: It comes in like a lamb and goes out like a multi-headed beast that wants to devour the lamb, the children, and that little old lady who lives down the block because she can't out run it. Oh, it also likes to show off its sexy self.

Okay, maybe it's not quite like that but we're certainly bringing the sexy beasts to Belltown on March 9th.

Have you heard the saying that "less is more"?

I've heard it too and I think it's bunk.

More is MORE.

The Academy of Burlesque Alumni think so too.

Today, the lovely Miss Candy Apples and I rehearsed our duet in the next Alumni show. We're certain that you're going to love it and every other act too.

Walt Disney once said, "Always leave them wanting more."

The Academy of Burlesque brings you "MORE THE MERRIER!" An evening of burlesque about plenty and abundance, featuring duets & groups!

With performances by:

With our very special guest Sydni Deveraux!

All of this and MORE is hosted by the wonderful Gams Galore!

The show is this Saturday, January 26th, 2013!

Captain James Tiberius Kirk. You know the man, the legendary captain of the starship Enterprise. His record is impressive and that's just the women he's taken to bed. Opposing him in Captain Royale: A Commanding Burlesque Showdown is Captain Kathryn Janeway, another Starfleet officer and captain of the starship Voyager. Captain Janeway is known for being a straight laced, by the numbers kind of woman who cares deeply for her crew. Kirk will show you what you do with an Orion slave girl while Janeway will let that tight bun of hers down. Dahlia Ste. Cys and Marcus DeBoyz will throw down with Miss Candy Apples this Saturday at the Re-Bar for Captain Royale. Which one will you choose?

Ten captains. One reigns supreme. You choose.

You've heard the arguments, I'm sure. It's something that comes up in certain geek circles. Who is the better captain; is it James T. Kirk or Jean Luc Picard? We aim to settle that little score. And then some.

CopyrightOn July 30th, my oldest niece, Christy, was driving on U.S. Highway 287 just north of the Colorado-Wyoming border where she hit a patch of wet road after a summer storm. Her Dodge Neon hydroplaned and crossed into oncoming traffic, sliding into a semi. Her injuries were severe enough that she was air lifted to Denver Health for treatment in Colorado.

She is out of the ICU now and in rehabilitation for her severe brain injuries. She still has a long way to go.

Christy wanted to come to Seattle and explore the independent music scene and this thing called burlesque that her crazy aunt did.

Good evening my lovelies!

It's September and I'm writing this in a coffee shop after returning from the 70th annual World Science Fiction Convention in Chicago for ChiCon 7. I had a fantastic time and introduced a whole lot of people to the glories of nerdy burlesque or, as we like to call it, nerdlesque. Being home after a long trip alwaays feels so good. Especially after rolling in the rhinestones and glitter. (I'm not sure the cats ever appreciate that.)

But let me give you a glimpse of my upcoming shows of Lust.Love.Lifetime, Debauchery, and NERDZ! [more]

First up in this very busy month is Lust.Love.Lifetime: A Show Benefitting Washington United for Marriage at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater on the 13th. The show starts at 7:30 pm. The show is $20 and profits go directly to Washington United for Marriage. This show is going to be awesome! This show features the talents of Eva Fairwood, Miz Melancholy, Scandal from Bohemia, Betty Fish, Sara Dipity, myself, and more.

Fantastic burlesque and supportting marriage equality in Washington? Total win!

Copyright

How do you follow up a show about lust and love? With Debauchery, of course. In its usual third Thursday of the month slot, Lily Divine Productions brings us a night of entertainment tailored for the queer audience at Neighbor's Night Club in Seattle.

Doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. Advanced tickets are just $10 and $15 at the door.

This month's show features some amazing performers! In no particular order, other than by name, I get to share the stage with Al Lykya, Amarylis Brindamour, Fay Onyx, Gema Lusterious, Harriet Scary, Juicy Fruit, Miss Kitty Baby, Pidgeon Von Tramp, Tiger Bombshell makes a debut peformance, and Zusha Rouge.

Lily Divine Productions uses Debauchery as a means to raise money for local LGBTQI organizations through community grants generated by the shows.

Copyright

Last, but certainly not least, NERDZ! returns to the Jewelbox again this year for two nights, September 22nd and 23rd! You read that right, you now two oppurtunities to take in some amazing nerdity, that amazing confluence of nerdly pleasures combined with nudity. Sounds simple enough, yes?

The show on Saturday, September 22nd, begins at 7:00pm and doors open at 6:30pm. The doors for Sunday's show open at 6pm with the show starting at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $18 at the door and $15 in advance of the show by way of Brown Paper Tickets.

Leading me in this night of sexy geekry is Scarlett O'Hairdye, Sailor St. Claire, Nathaniel Johnstone, Tempest, Morgue Anne, Bolt Action, Stella Vaughn, Scandal from Bohemia, and Candy Apples.

Those geniuses from Card Kingdom are even putting together a prize package that will be as enviable as it will be epic.

And October 3rd see's my return to Oakland, CA, in iL Nocturnal's iLnoc-off! It's a benefit support of We Are Family, a community organization that helps homeless LGBT youth in need. The Seattle Police Department estimates that there anywhere between 500 and 2000 homeless youth on the streets of Seattle and and that nearly half of those numbers are LGBTQI teens. If you want to help but cannot make the show, watch this site for details on how you can help make a difference.

My work takes me on some incredible journeys working with lovely and talented people. I have long enjoyed working with performers, whether they are actors on the stage and screen or dancers who create art through motion. This last Monday, I was fortunate enough to work with a rising starlet of the Seattle burlesque scene, Miss Candy Apples on a flyer for an upcoming show in Belltown. Here are some photos from that shoot to whet your apetite.
