Tonight I celebrate my 39th year of hopefully making people's lives a little more interesting with friends and family. Last night was actually my birthday but I wanted to go see the monthly West Side Burlesque Revue at the Skylark Cafe and Tavern in West Seattle. Persephone Illyri had performed two fan dances, one that felt more like Isis Wings and one with more traditional Sally Rand fans. Both routines were gorgeous. Of course, while we Star Wars movies tonight--[livejournal.com profile] zorgaulf and [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie bought me the box set on Blu-Ray--I'm probably going to be working on sewing projects, either the hat or the elastic lace-ruffles for my belly dance performance at SteamCon.

Tomorrow I have a photography workshop at the CSPC. Sadly, the details a still fuzzy about that and I'm bit nervous. I'd hate for my model to drive up from Tacoma and then learn something went south, but we'll see and we'll figure something out one way or the other. Tomorrow, in the late afternoon, I am off to Olatsa Assin's house in West Seattle for a Sass Boom Bang meeting and rehearsal where I unleash my idea for my Film Strip routine in November. Muwahahaha! Ahem. Anyway I top off the evening with my friends in the weekly mage and vampire LARPs.

Sunday is most sewing, testing costume pieces--I really like where the steampunk belly dancing costume is going--more sewing and more testing with belly dance classes in the evening at ucanto Belly Dance in the U district.

And some where in the middle of all that, I will be reading some new short fiction. It will be awesome.

What are you all doing this weekend?

When I look back over the last eleven years, I see a day where I was I was very happy, surrounded by friends and family. Eleven years ago we were handfasted on a gorgeous spring day in my parents backyard. Eleven years ago we said yes to the commitments before us and we force fed cake to each other--I remember that white cake can burn when it gets too far up the nose--in the most loving fashion. Eleven years ago it was a day of happiness and joy, a day I relive with you each and every day I am with you. You are my fire, my passion, and you complete me and fill in my holes for the last eleven years. I am looking forward to next eleven years before us.

Happy anniversary, dear.

I just registered myself, [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie, the Boy, and the Girly Girl for SteamCon this fall and have our hotel reservations in hand.

Who else is going? :)

I am busy repacking everything and getting ready to check. I will probably be dropping off the car earlier than the 1:40pm designated time, but I'll live. Once I get to the airport, I'll just find someplace comfortable to sit down write up last night and make a few other posts as well. :)

Aside from a few hiccups, last night was just amazing! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie for the awesome Yule present! I love you very, very much!

My first flight is Alaska Airlines 4213 from LAX to SJC 3:40pm to 5:00pm and then Alaska Airlines 331 from SJC to SEA from 7:50pm to 10:09pm.

[livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie gave me my Yule present today, a ticket to go see Abney Park in L.A. where they will be performing during the Nautilist Ball on New Years Eve at the Edison.

To be honest, she said, "Do you want to go?"

I said, "Yes!"

She said, "Go get your ticket."

She's awesome! :) I have my ticket for the show, my air fare, my hotel, and I even found a good deal on a rental car which is only a little more expensive than getting catching a shuttle bus or a taxi to and from the airport.

Picked a badge name with thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie, [livejournal.com profile] evaleastaristev, [livejournal.com profile] asthecrowfly, and [livejournal.com profile] bluewingedcat for their help. It was rather unanimous. ;)

Okay, I'm going to go gain negative distance with the bed and snuggle next to [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie.

For those of you not in the know the, last night, before I went to game, we found that the Girly Girl was running a fever of, roughly, 102 degrees. The doctor was called and we were told to keep an eye on it. [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie sent me off to go with [livejournal.com profile] sylvan to get [livejournal.com profile] gaaneden to go to game and help set up. About 10 or so, Girly Girl's fever had spiked to 104.7 and [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie took her into the ER.

That should catch up everyone to where we were last night.

What we know: The fever is not the result of the flu.

That's all we know from the tests last night.

Today, her temperature is down to 100.4, still hot but not as much of a concern. She is up and she is active, presently engaged in a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie with regards to that most importat question, "Which is cooler? Pirates or ninjas?"

"Ninjas attack faster, so they're cooler."

Mom disagrees. ;)
fullcontactmuse: (WTF)
I'm having visions about having mutant kids with strange paranormal powers or something. Hmmm, maybe not a bad thing on second thought.

In any case, [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie posted about the plethora of double yolks yesterday. This morning, She woke up and fixed breakfast, if for no other reason than checking the rest of the eggs.

By the time She was done, one dozen eggs from 7-11 contained one dozen eggs with double-yolks.

Of course, this comment from the New Scientist Blog doesn't help matters much...
Older hens, or hens with hormone problems lay eggs with double yolks more frequently for the same reasons that older human mothers are more likely to give birth to twins. It can be a sign of stress or illness in the flock and a high incidence of double yolks in younger hens should be checked by a vet.
So either we are a very lucky household or someone is gon'na get sick from this...
