ChiCon 7, the 70th World Science Fiction Convention, is this week. In fact, my plane for the Windy City leaves Wednesday afternoon and I land just before midnight.

Hmmm. I seem to remember doing this recently when I went to the Steampunk World's Fair in New Jersey. I mean, really, why I do fly out so late? Because I like the night life? Well, there are lots of photography subjects.

Nerdlesque: Filking for Burlesque?

Friday from 16:30 pm to 18:00 pm

The neo burlesque movement seems to be full of nerds and geeks in troupes such from New York's Epic Win Burlesque to Portland's Critical Hit, even individual shows like NERDZ in Seattle and the Hitchhiker's Guide to Burlesque in Los Angeles. Some acts are fun and campy tributes to fan favorites while other numbers offer a serious contemplations. Either way, it's a love letter.

As some of you may know I'm performing at the Steampunk World's Fair in just under a month and I am both excited and scared out of my mind. Not only is this my first time performing out state but it will be my first time out on the east coast. I'll be leaving on a plane for New Jersey on May 16th and will most likely be landing on 16th with only minutes to go.

Tonight they posted my blurb and photo and then plugged me in their Facebook group.

Yes, this is really happening!!

Of course, I'll get home late Sunday night on the 20th and then turn around and drive down to Portland, OR, to perform for Savoir Faire on the 31st and then on to Oakland, CA, for First Friday Follies at the Stork Club and will be in the Bay Area through Saturday, June 2nd and driving back to Seattle on the 3rd.

This is the most epic spring ever for me!! Don't mind me while I sit here and be excited.

This trollop right here!

Oh, I like that variation better than the "two thumbs" comment I made over on my Violet DeVille twitter feed.

I am so over the moon excited about this it isn't even funny. Well, maybe it is funny. Today, right before going on stage at Cues and Tattoos, I checked my e-mail to find that I had been accepted to perform at the Steampunk World's Fair. I squee'd mightily at anyone who would listen--the girls performing with me, our belly dance teacher, Katana, Sarah Kate and Letty from Copper Clock--and there were a few of them.

I'm working out the getting out there part and need to figure out the "where I'm sleeping part". This is awesome, exciting, tightly timed with my west coast tour and the Burlesque 202 classes I'm taking as well. Which is exciting in and of itself.

Who else is going? Does anyone have crash space?

The Girly Girl and I going to WesterCon this summer in San Jose. (Gina was sold on the convention when she saw the logo with the horse on it.)

I would love to get together with you all down there.

Edit: As a note, we will be without a car while down there since we're car pooling down with [livejournal.com profile] saphyre_blue and we'll be arriving in town on 6/30 and leaving on the 5th.

Willow (a.k.a. [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie) told me last night that if we can get the money together, Abney Park at Edison for New Years would be my Yule present again. So I have a list of things that I need to purchase and about how much I expect to spend when everything is said and done.

Last year I stayed at the Kawada Hotel, about two blocks from the Edison. I met a fair number of people last year from L.A. and the surrounding region. My question to those down there, would you be willing to either have a guest crash on your couch for a night or go in on a hotel room for a night?

Is anyone interested in such a venture?

We stopped for dinner at Montage and will continue on soon.

I've hopped flights to Alaska Airlines 329 and should be arriving at SeaTac around 8:18pm.

If you said it was the third terminal at the airport, that would be logical, but you'd be wrong. It's call terminal 3 because it's 3,000 miles away from the other terminals.

I am at the airport early. My thought was that the sooner I dropped off the rental car, the less likely I was drive around and spend money. See, I are smart. :)

In any case, this gives me time to start writing up the show last night, though I won't post until I have some photos to go with it. :)

I am busy repacking everything and getting ready to check. I will probably be dropping off the car earlier than the 1:40pm designated time, but I'll live. Once I get to the airport, I'll just find someplace comfortable to sit down write up last night and make a few other posts as well. :)

Aside from a few hiccups, last night was just amazing! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] lunargypsie for the awesome Yule present! I love you very, very much!

My first flight is Alaska Airlines 4213 from LAX to SJC 3:40pm to 5:00pm and then Alaska Airlines 331 from SJC to SEA from 7:50pm to 10:09pm.

This place, the Edison in L.A. is just amazing. It is filled with lots of really cool things that I can even begin to go into.

But fear not, I will have photos!

Abney Park has finished their first set and have played at least three new songs!

For the record, there are just way too many people here at the airport at 5:30 in the morning. Of course it's kind of surreal that my gate is out on the tarmac today. Yes, here at SeaTac there are gates that do not use an umbilicus. How very odd. Maybe I'm just spoiled.

How fitting it should be that I have Abney Park's Airship Pirate, from the "Lost Horizons" CD, stuck in my head this morning while waiting for the TSA to do their thing. It was the first song I listened to when I fired up the laptop this morning.

Of course, we get on the freeway and I realize I forgot my goggles this morning. Bah. That's what I get for not putting them on my check list.

[livejournal.com profile] evaleastaristev, I found a back of my music this morning. On the laptop. Yea!

I am so very excited about the show tonight.
fullcontactmuse: (Do I look happy to you)
My flight has been delayed 27 minutes. I am now leaving at 20:45. At least I have the laptop. :)

Of course, I don't think I've ever sat in any row number below 15. Tonight, I am in row 2.

If I was was coming from the Santa Clara Hyatt Regency, which airport is easier to get to? According to my map, the difference in distance is less than 2 miles with the Oakland airport being just over 25 miles from the hotel and the San Francisco airport being just under 27 miles.

Yes, this is for BayCon in May, I am driving out with Phil and Joyce and then flying back into Seattle on Tuesday morning. The price difference between the two airports is literally just a penny with San Francisco clocking in at $83.49 as opposed to Oakland at $83.50, both on airlines I have never flown on, Virgin America and Alaska Air.

Of course, is there someone willing to drive me to the airport on Tuesday? :)
