As some of you know, I'm a big old nerd and love my role playing games, especially my live action role playing games. One group, Emerald Chronicles (www.emeraldchronicles.com), that I play my live action roleplaying games with meets on a weekly basis. In the summer we play on the UW campus near Red Square and during the wet season we play at the Boys & Girls Club of Wallingford.
Where am I going with this?
Well, as a part of our rental agreement, we design, build, and run their haunted house. In exchange for our hard work, we get really cheap rent throughout the winter months. Seriously, who better to run a haunted house than a group of adults who pretend to be vampires, werewolves, reality bending mages, and fairies once a week? Yeah, we couldn't think of anyone better either.
The haunted house serves two purposes for the B&GC: First is to help raise money and strengthen their bond with the local community. We like to think that we excel on both counts. ;)
This year's theme is a Twisted Carnival and we're looking for a number of performers who would love to embrace the carnival atmosphere and help entertain people who are in line. Tribal belly dancers, side show performers, carnies. I think you get the idea where are going. This is an all ages kind of show in the community.
It's a one night run on Saturday, the 29th of about 3 to 4 hours in length. This is as much about the dance as it is about the atmosphere. In end, we should be having fun and entertaining people. This should be a low stress gig.
Specifics about the event:
When: Boys & Girls Club of Wallingford, 1310 N. 45h St., Seattle
Start: 6pm
Length: 3 hours (historicly this has been extended for an hour due to demand)
Call Time: 5pm
This is an unpaid event.
I will most likely not be dancing myself as I'm already tapped to do things like makeup effects and probably acting or in some backstage role pulling strings. ;)
If you're interested or would like more information, feel free to send me a message or an e-mail me at amber@clarkzoo.org. We would like to have the performers locked down by Monday, 10/24, so we can plan out the evening appropriately.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help us make an incredible evening for the local community.
