Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Browncoats!

What: 'Serenity' at the Egyptian Theater - Midnight Show!

When: Friday, January 30, 2009 11:30 PM or Saturday, January 31st, 11:30 PM

Where: The Egyptian Theater in Seattle - Click the link below for details!

Meetup Description: Once again, Universal and Landmark Theaters have teamed up to bring "Serenity" back to the big screen! *cue wild cheering!!*
Midnight shows on both Friday, January 30th and Saturday, January 31st will give us poor Browncoats not one but TWO chances to see our Big Damn Heroes kick some Alliance butt!

Make your plans now but do it fast! Tickets are available to purchase online at the Egyptian website or take your chances at the door. At the Egyptian's "Serenity" showing two years ago, both nights had a large crowd and there's nothing like watching the Big Damn Movie with a crowd of Browncoats!

Note: most of the Seattle Browncoats will be going to the Saturday night show but several of us will be attending both shows.
Another note: The Seattle Browncoats are NOT hosting this movie event so any complaints about the time of the movie can go directly to Landmark Theaters.
Last note (I promise): This is an independent event and has nothing to do with the annual "Can't Stop the Serenity" charity event in June.

Grab you Jayne Hat, your 'coat of a brownish color' and a mug of Mudder's Milk and join in the shiny fun! Who needs to sleep when there's some Reavers to destroy?!

Who finds humor in the fact that, according to the Complete and Official Map of the 'Verse, that Hades is a moon of Persephone? I am amused.

Persephone's entry in the Station Archives.

Edit on 8:37 PM, 12/8/2008: Added a link to the game library.

Shiny!

My Map of the 'Verse this week. Let me tell you, it is shiny. For players of the LARP, there will be very little ret-con'ing as we integrate into game. The biggest change is that Heinlein comes close to the core, but doesn't actually enter it. And there are ton more planets and moons between the five stars that make up make up the system.

I only have two complaints about the map:
1) They printed it on two sides. That means that if I want to frame it, I need a second one to show off the other side. (As a holiday hint, I would prefer another copy that has been rolled, not folded.) :D
2) It's an odd size. It's 25 x 38, which is plenty big, but I don't think a standard poster frame is going to fit it. That means custom framing and that's gonna cost more.

Yes, it's very shiny. Complete with little factoids about the 5 systems and the distance at which the four other stars orbit White Sun and the core.

This is an absolutely indispensible aid for anyone that plays the game or just likes to know more about the 'verse. Sadly, I doubt we'll hear any more tales of Serenity and her crew from Joss.

[livejournal.com profile] gypsiequeen said: "Maybe you need some comfort food?"
I said: "I don't need to eat right now."
[livejournal.com profile] gypsiequeen said: "No, not potato chips or popcorn. I'm thinking strawberries; diced and removed from the stem."
I said: "No, they're best from vine and you hold onto the vine to eat it."
I said: "Then, I say, 'Oh, grandpa.' And you're supposed to say, 'I never married.'"

...that they fall right out of the sky. Fortunately, this Capissen 38 has no need to get off the ground. :)

One browncoat needs to part with it, so I figured I would spread the love. :)

I will have to pick up a set of these for use as props in the LARP.

I'm stuck and have written the flavor text for the Ji Dian Station shameless plug cards 4 times. I get a couple of lines into it each way and decide I don't like what I've written, so I scrap it.

Bah. I'm headed to bed. Maybe inspiration will come to me in my dreams.

Since the other poll site I tried is not working like it was expected to, I'm falling back to an LJ poll.

First thing, we're doing a set of surveys to figure out when, when, and how often people want games. The surveys can be found on the Ji Dian Station site. If you're interested in playing the game, please fill it out. We need to hear from you.

We have to move the test game to March 17th from the 24th. We will be announcing a time soon.

Thanks!
Rory and Jim

I'm thinking about making t-shirts in time for Norwescon. What do you think of this?

Next Test Game Announced! For the next game will be doing a game that flexes the combat system and will hopefully show us where the weak points in it are. The game is scheduled for March 24th, 2007 down at the Nexus in Bellevue. More information will follow. The F.A.Q. has been updated as well as instructions on how to join the game when it starts in May.

I've heard back from very people, so I'm going to be paranoid and ask the question: Did everyone get their character sheets and background writeups?
fullcontactmuse: (Ji Dian Station)

[livejournal.com profile] sylvan and I have finished casting people into roles, we've just about finished writing up backgrounds and took the first serious stab at the character creation system. Fruits of our labor in terms rules have begun to bloom over at the website. We should be sending out e-mails this weekend with character backgrounds and possibly, but no guarantees, a character sheet.

After Ghost Town, we'll likely do a series of character creations with players to get feedback on the process as a whole.

We're looking forward to the game!
