Member-Dismembered opens tonight for its for its 4 night run at Gay City on Pike Street near Belmont in Capitol Hill.

If you’ve ever wished you could have somebody else’s body, now you can! When Ken’s penis disappears into the Internet, his partner and friends embark on a surreal and often naked odyssey into interchangeable torsos, anonymous genitalia, and a gigantic, atomic-penis straight out of the 1950s. The play takes a humorous look at the question: who are we, when we can be anything?

I'm so excited! I get to sing! I get to dance with a six foot penis! I also bring these boys back to reality.

The show is at 7:30 pm tonight through Saturday and a matinee showing on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available online through Stranger Tickets.

And then some with your help. Who will you promote to commodore?

I'm reading Sparrow Hill Road by [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire. I found I was really reluctant to read the book initially. It sat in my Kindle library for almost two weeks before I started reading it in earnest. Usually when Seanan comes out with a new book and I'm reading it the moment I realize it's in my e-book library. I suppose my reluctance came from loving the story in its original form on the Edge of Propinquity. While I know that Seanan tightened it up, it went through a more rigorous editorial process, and she filled out the world quite a bit, I was afraid it wouldn't be what I remembered.

Let me just say that I was wrong. I should not have put any credence in that little voice that told me to be afraid of the changes. So far, I am delighted. I am half-way through the fifth chapter, Bullets and Bad Coffee, which maps to the second episode in its 12 story run on TEOP, Deadman's Party. I wanted a bigger world during the TEOP run and now I have it. This is more than what it was before and I'm okay with that.

So many visuals came to mind reading this chapter as they did back then and that's wonderful. Now if you don't mind, there's a girl in a diner I want to get back to.

Like physics, the internet has its own set of “natural” laws. The most exciting: Rule 34, which states that if you can think of it, there is sexually explicit material of it. Therein lies our inspiration. With a steaming hot cast of burlesque’s finest, Rule 34 explores the deepest depths of our imaginations and the interwebs that bring them to light.

If You Can Think of It, There’s Porn, er, Burlesque of It!

“Why you think the net was born? Porn! Porn! Porn!” – Trekkie Monster, from the hit Broadway musical Avenue Q.

Did you know that over 30% of all Internet traffic contains porn and video site YouPorn uses 6 times the bandwidth of the streaming media site Hulu. We think Trekkie Monster might be onto something.

Rule 34 is May 10th at the Re-Bar in Seattle.

Our Master of Ceremonies, our Potentate of Porn, our Sultan of Smut, our Dictator of Dirt is Mister Bawdy.

Following his lead is Tamara the Trapeze Lady, Boom Boom L’Roux, Whisper De Corvo, Miss Violet DeVille, Maggie McMuffin, Cinnamon Maxxine, Magnolia Monroe, Morgue Anne, Dee Lushious, and Ms. Audrey Rugburn!

The doors open at 6:30 pm, seating begins at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm.

What porn is she looking for? If I could just zoom in on the screen...

Tickets start at $13 and are available through www.BrownPaperTickets.com and for $15 at the box office day of show.

What porn is she searching for?

CopyrightI cannot wait for next Thursday. On April 3rd, the Belltown Burlesque Revue is back in town at the Re-Bar with a stellar lineup!

Tax season is once again upon us with its money hungry filing deadline looming on the horizon. With that dead line, we suggest taking a break from Table A on document 1086. Instead we think you should apply a shimmy credit for the bumps you’ll be enjoying and come down to the Re-Bar on Thursday, April 3rd. The music will hopping, the women will be bringing their all, and the drinks will be flowing from the Re-Bar’s talented bartenders.

I'm bringing two very fun acts and I'll be sharing the stage with Whisper De Corvo, Ms. Candy Apples, Crystal Tassels, and Katie Kat.

Tickets for the Belltown Burlesque Revue are on sale now at belltownburlesque.brownpapertickets.com

I have an engineering problem that I need some help with.

I am building a large "spin and win" like device consisting of a frame and two spinning wheels, with the smaller wheel in front of the larger one. The axel for these wheels is a 3/8" carriage bolt that is 6" in length. The frame and each wheel has a 1/2" hole to accommodate the axel and a steel sleeve. The sleeves serve two purposes: reducing friction when spun and protecting the plywood from being damaged by the threads on the bolt that serves as the axel. Nuts behind the frame and in front of the frame allow for adjusting the forward position of the axel on the frame.

The wheels spin smoothly and easily. The problem is that spinning the wheel causes the wheel to rub against the washers and nuts that hold everything in place on the axel and, depending on which way the wheel is spun, will either tighten the nut to the point where the wheel cannot spin or loosen it to the point of wobbling.

I don't know how to solve this. I've tried using two nuts tightened against each other and that didn't work.

I'm open to suggestions.

Edit: It is a set piece for a show so it needs to be able to easily disassemble and reassembled.

CopyrightYou might be asking yourself, "What is Debauchery? And why might I want to go to such a show?"

To quote the Debauchery event page:

Debauchery is queers stripping for queers in hot, anti-oppressive space, raising money for organizations that serve the queer community.

The show features stripteases, tons of audience interaction and even birthday lap dances onstage! Be sure to bring plenty of dollar bills -- a portion of the proceeds goes to non-profits providing health and social services within the queer community.

At our July 18th show, we'll be presenting a Community Fund Grant to Zenyu. Come and celebrate with us!

So that answers the first question. Let me give you the why-you-want-to-go-to-such-a-show...

To see hot people stripping for you! Whether you're queer, gay, straight, bi, or something else entirely, there is hotness for you. The line up at Debauchery is always stellar and this time around is no exception. I have the pure joy of performing with...

  • Al Lykya (my favorite deuche bag with a heart of gold!)
  • Amber Flame (one of the Last of the Red Hot Mamas)
  • EmpeROAR Fabulous!!! (perhaps my favorite Electric Blue Shimmy-Shaker)
  • Ginger Snapz (one of many fabulous glittery smart people I know!)
  • Lily Divine (so much awesome in one amazing package)
  • Mama Lu-cious (I don't know Mama Lu-cious yet but if Lily Divine picked her out, I'm sure she is going to be amazing!)
  • Pidgeon Von Tramp (there is so many wonderful things about Ms. von Tramp that I don't know where to begin)
  • Solange Corbeau (smart, sassy, sexy, and fighting for a better world. What's not to like?)
  • Tootsie Spangles (truly the sexiest Buffoon in the Buff I know and a total sweetheart)
  • Whisper De Corvo (don't mind me, the this tall cool whirlwind of strength and grace has been one of my favorites for a very long time!)

VaGinger Fox and Mama Cane & the Glitter Pussy Riot are our hosts for the evening.

Here are the details you need to know.

When is it? This Thursday, July 18th. Doors at 7:00 pm, show at 8:00 pm (Facebook event)
Where is it? Neighbors Night Club
How much is this going to cost? $10 or Pay What You Can and $15 at the door

Do some good, go see a show.

CopyrightWhen June comes to call, some people like to look back at the first half of the year and see where they came from as they plot the way forward through the rest of the year. Here at the Belltown Burlesque Revue we not only approve of this approach, we’re going to do it one better! We’re going to spend an evening looking at the roots of the neo burlesque movement through the lens of classic burlesque! I'm watching Hemlock Grove on Netflix. It's creepy and atmospheric with the occasional gore moment and one of the best werewolf transformations since An American Werewolf In London. Seriously, if I had to completely shed my skin and eyeballs every time I changed into a wolf I would consider a new line of work. Like the special effects, the production quality of the series scores well.

I'm 5 episodes in out of 13 and it seems like we have a couple of instances of the magical negro trope. I don't think I'm giving much away I talk about this as the first instance is in the first episode and the second instance is in the third but now is the time to turn back if you don't want any spoilers.

The first is in one of our young male protagonists, Peter, who happens to be half Romani, displays supernatural abilities. Many of the supporting characters refers to Peter and his mother as "filthy Gypsies", displaying their racist contempt. The show plays to several negative stereotypes of the Roma (grifters, theives, etc.) as well as playing to magical and occult fantasy portrayals.

The second instance may be Dr. Clementine Chasseu, a black woman appears to work for the Church on special assignment investigating strange occurrences. Our seer character, Francis, a crazy man in the mental hospital who has visions, tells her that "her wings are wet". We'll see where Dr. Chasseu goes from here but I'm being skeptically cynical about how she's going to be treated in the end.

Okay, this companion cube won't build itself. Back to work I go.
