A promise made is a promise kept…

And keep it I did. Many years ago, after
gypsiequeen and I got together, She had stated that She wanted a dog. First of all, I’m not a dog person and we were living in an apartment. That’s not to say that I don’t like dogs, they’re just generally too noisy for me. Working the dog ward at Belcaro was always the one I hated since the dogs just wouldn’t stop barking. I’d take the cat ward any day of the week. My nature is that of an animal lover and I really do love all animals, even if I can’t emotionally handle them. Spiders and I have a treaty that defines our relationship. ;)
The apartment living was my biggest concern since we didn’t have a yard and dogs tend to have a higher exercise requirement that necessitates a yard. Well, any dog sized big enough to be worth having that is. ;) So I made the promise that after we bought a house sometime that we would get a dog.
Today, She saw the dog She wanted and she is a chocolate brown, aussie shepherd mix that was down at the Tacoma Humane Society who happened to have 10 minutes of fame on KIRO news today at lunch as their “pet of the week.” Now my wife is fast with those fingers and those fingers are so fast that she was the first one to call the shelter when the number came on the screen.
So we piled into the van, drove down to Tacoma to go have a look at this dog. She’s quite the sweet heart as dogs go. With all four of us in the visitation room, she was calm and well behaved. Played catch and tug-a-war with my son; allowed my daughter to guide her on the leash when she could’ve easily dragged the two year old. The big question is how are the cats going to take her arrival?
So far: Better than expected. Pandora and Celestial Star are having a face off. Sky is the bedroom, under the bed, we think. We’re not sure where the curmudgeon, also known as Cerrydwen, is hiding out, but she’s likely to be keeping a low profile.
I’m about to leave work since the Drop has yet to be applied to the SIT environment. I figure I’ll work from home tonight when it’s applied since I’m shooting
seductionjunkie’s movie this weekend.
I’m taking off after I submit my time. Still no news from the India team on the status of the drop. I found out from my boss yesterday when my contract expires and why he can't renew it even though he wants to. Simply put, MS is changing the vendors it works with and my vendor isn't one of them. It's actually kind of funny as I'm an employee of Volt, working for Accenture (the vendor in question) who is providing staff augmentation to Microsoft. See, I told you was special! I have 2 pimps! At this point, I've sicked the folks from Volt on the problem and I'll be following up with them next week.
I should probably write down some of the thoughts and ideas I've been having about (and for!) Shadows of Crimson Dawn. I'll lay them out on the table at the Staff meeting tomorrow to try firm them up. They have to do with a couple of villians in one of the story arcs and the other, who has been quietly manipulating things and has yet to be encountered, who affects the overall story line now that we're in the second half of act one. Yes, the over all plot line is a story in three acts.
Yes, I will think some more on the way home.
