Tonight I had the pleasure of photographing the new musical, SHINE: A Burlesque Musical, which opens tomorrow and runs through the 18th. The story is fun, sexy, and at times, very touching. The music varied, addicting, and I want the sound track! From the website:

Internationally-acclaimed comedy cabaret duo The Wet Spots, John Woods and Cass King, in collaboration with Theatre Off Jackson and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, will present 12 performances of SHINE: A Burlesque Musical July 8 to 18, 2010 at the Theatre Off Jackson.  A recent winner of a Vancouver Ovation Award for “Outstanding New Work”, SHINE is a tassel-twirling original, full-book musical about an infamous burlesque theatre and the family of talented misfits who try to save it from demolition… or worse, respectability.

One of the things I love about my work and photography as a whole is how you capture this memory, a moment in time. For everyone outside of the opening and closing of the shutter, that moment is gone only to be remembered imperfectly. With a camera, I can preserve those moments. Sometimes, I can create memories that never were.

Recently, I began trolling through the Stopped Motion Photography archives. Holy cow, there are a lot of photos in there and you can see where the where the learning curves are. Here are a few memories from the past, both real and imagined. More behind the cut. )
