I did not see my boss last night at Donny's graduation. She, however, saw me from behind. Okay, not too bad and it could've been a whole.

We chatted about it for a bit and then I asked her if we could have a private conversation. Once we were ensconced in the conference room, I laid out everything: I'm trans. I'm transitioning, which could be as early as this summer or as late as next March.

She asked how that would happen and I explained how I thought it should go with an e-mail to the group (for those I'm not out to), followed by an e-mail to the company as a whole, and then pulling the trigger and I switch over.

We talked about mishaps in heels, the spike heels that some of the girls were wearing. I was wearing my riding boots with the comfy insoles. She complimented me on hair style and thought that she might try. We talked about burlesque and belly dance (and that one of my coworkers joined for classes at one point).

It was a good, positive meeting. Now let's see how the good ol'boys handle it after I talk to HR. Of course, we don't have an HR department per se and the department falls under the VP of Finance, so I'm sure that will be exciting too.

Tonight is Donny's graduation from high school. Of course, I'm left asking myself who plans to have these things on week night, on the other side of the lake at the University of Washington, during rush hour traffic?! Regardless, Donny asked me to come to his graduation as me.

I am very flattered by this this and I feel very loved by my oldest child for it. I think this is awesome on so many levels.

Today I learned, my boss' niece is in Donny's graduating class and she's going to be there.

As some of you know, I am still very much in the middle of this process called transition and that I still present male at work (with stripey socks, painted nails, definitely playing with gender expectations there). My plan was to have the meeting with HR later this month to talk about my plans and then follow that up with a meeting with my boss after that.

Needless to say, this throws me into a near panic attack as I calmly shove down until I get to my car. There was this strong, strong urge to not go to tonight's ceremony as me, but to go in boy-drag as it were.

Talking yourself out of the tree is never anything that's even remotely fun.

Walking away from this keyboard, my plan is to go get ready as me.
Take a breath.
Execute on that plan.
Keep breathing.
Go to the ceremony.
Whether or not my boss sees me, regardless of whether or not she recognizes me, I'm going to schedule a meeting for tomorrow morning to come out of the wardrobe, as it were.

Okay, take a deep breath and I'm in.

I renamed my account from activegnome to [livejournal.com profile] fullcontactmuse.

I am a contented girl.

Now, I'm off to a troupe meeting for Sass Boom Bang Burlesque. We're plotting out our first show.

Edit: So LJ was automatically rendering the <lj user="activegnome"> as [livejournal.com profile] fullcontactmuse. It was being helpful. So I just left it as activegnome instead.

I've decoupled my LiveJournal feed from my boy-mode Facebook account and, instead, fed it into a Yahoo! Pipes, along with Through the Shutter: The Blog of Stopped Motion Photography, Miss Violet DeVille, my StoppedMotion Twitter Feed, and this LJ account into one mega RSS feed.

You may have noticed a couple of other changes in the profile here on LiveJournal and there are still more changes to come. Especially I start moving closer to my transition date of 3/31/2012.

Thanks for sharing the ride with me. I appreciate it.

Oh, and I'm taking suggestions for a new LJ user name. Do you have any suggestions?
