The Norwescon Update
I am back from con. I have slept in my own bed and actually feel rested for going to bed past midnight and getting up before 6am.
The run up to the convention was a blur. I had many things to get done and ready to go prior to actually showing up at the hotel. Load in and setup on Wednesday went well enough, though it wasn't without a couple hiccups. Thursday was bumpy and busy as usual. I had to check in and hang art for the art show. Dad arrived in town that day and it was good to see him. Of course, I need to figure out how I can get more of my family to come to con, but that's another story. That night we were busily trying to put the finishing touches on the Friday night LARP.
On Friday, I finally got a chance to hit the dealer's room. While in the dealer's room, I found a vendor that sparked a really cool idea in my head. If you're curious, contact me directly and I might share it with you. I know, me and my secret, crazy performance ideas. ;) Then, Friday night, in what seems to become a tradition for us, we started the LARP late. In spite of all that, "Lord Voldemort and the Wizard's Summit" went off relatively smoothly. We had comments from players that it wasn't what they were expecting and many compliments from that they had a lot of fun as well. This makes me very, very happy. :)
On Saturday,
lunargypsie wore her Agatha Heterodyne costume based on the Girl Genius paper doll. Word came down to me on Saturday that one of my pieces in the art show was doing really well in the "Best of Show" votes. Looking at the voting logs, a number of pieces were doing really well. (We have a couple of pictures of the costume, but we're going to reshoot them before posting.)
On Sunday, we began tearing down registration and prepping the server for it's cold storage in the small storage unit. I went to take down my art. I sold 5 pieces and took "Best of Show: Horror" for "Her Return", which was sold. The four other pieces were "Pathways", "A Moment of Hope", "Defeated", and "Many Layers to the Game".
On Monday, we were out of the hotel by noon and said our goodbyes. I have a few things to write up for the convention and get a couple of meetings thrown together prior to the post con meeting in May, but that can wait a day or so. ;)
Over all, I had a good weekend.
Okay, back to my day.
