We are looking for 2 volunteers to assist during the opening 30 minutes of Lights Out at Norwescon to help with player check-in and picture taking.

Here are the two positions:

Player Check In - Simply, you hand out the character packets to the players as they arrive and check off their name from the list. After which, you send them to volunteer number two, the photo manager. Filled.

Photo Manager - Your job is to take photographs of the individual players, print the photo on the printer, write the character's name on the photo, and then tack the photo to the Wall O' Photos so that people who have a character tie to another character knows what they look like. If you have a PictBridge compatible camera that you do not mind using, that would great.

We look forward to playing with you all.

April game is rescheduled!

We had to reschedule the April game to the 19th to avoid a collision with the Norwescon Post-Con meeting.

We hope that this does not cause too many problems for people.

Thanks!

Last night, Jim and I completed the first round of character assignments for the Lights Out. With one exception, and that's because she is a regular player and has a character already, if you did not receive an e-mail from us telling you the name of your character and a very short synopsis of the character, then we do not have registration information on file for you.

If you filled out the form, located at http://www.jidianstation.org/cons/NorwesconSignup.aspx, and did not get an e-mail, we sincerely apologize; the mail server might have eaten it. Please fill out the form again, which will send a copy of your answers to us and to you.

If you have not filled out the form and you want to play, there is still time to sign up. We are accepting registrations until March 14th, 2008.

Cost: Free to convention members

According to my TODO list, which accounts for only the number of tasks, not the amount of work involved with each task, I am at just under half-way there.

[livejournal.com profile] gypsiequeen to her back and she's been trying to manage it at home, but the vicodin hasn't been touching it and there is only so much she gets for every 45 days. When chronic back pain is your constant companion, you learn to go sparingly on the good meds.

Anyway, she has gone back to a bed and I'm out in the lobby with the Girly Girl. I will try to work on the game from here, without my notes and doing it from my phone, I don't know how far I'll get. I figure I can apply XP and character updates in the morning.

But now, I cope by thinking up stories and down the down the ideas.

The month has been quiet, though uneasy, aboard Ji Dian Station with Doc Hope's dramatic exit from the Promenade last month. Things are quiet and subdued.
Join us for Ji Dian Station, Episode 9: Zeus's Gambit.

If you haven't done so already, please take a moment to vote in the May Game / Baycon poll over in [livejournal.com profile] jidianstation.

After being frustrated with the limitations of the current implementation under VB6, the GV2Web object is being redesigned and rewritten using .Net and C#. One of the underlying design goals is for a plug-in architecture to read various character store formats. I was very happy when it worked as I had not done anything remotely like that previously.

As it stands now, I'm building 3 plugins for it that handle different character store formats: the GV2DataAdapter for Grapevine 2.3, the GV3DataAdapter for Grapevine 3.0, and the GoSqlDataAdapter for the yet unbuilt SQL Server character store that will be used in the PlotEngine at some future date. The design has hence forth rechristened as GVWeb, though the Grapevine moniker is likely unneeded because of the plugin model, but I'm sentimental and it's a natural progression.

Now I'm playing NUnit because VS2k5 Pro does not include unit testing tools. :(

Game Reminder for 12/15/2007
Gathering for the game starts at 2 PM
The game will be held at Rory's House.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Episode 8 of Ji Dian Station, Echoes. Since the broadcast of what some are calling the "Pax Wave" on the Cortex, some have called upon parliament to investigate the charges laid out in the broadcast. Others have shouted down the Prime Minister Emer, calling for his resignation in the scandal. Regardless of of these outside events, life continues on while the echoes of the past can be heard in the settling dust.

This is just a friendly reminder about the upcoming game this Saturday. We look forward to seeing you there!

Ji Dian Station: "Lights Out" at Norwescon 31

The gas giant Heinlein continues in it's elliptical orbit through the black and the years continue to roll forward. Aboard the skyplex that orbits the planet, Ji Dian Station, the Companion Guild hosts a reenactment of Yuen Siu, the lantern festival, in honor of the spring season of the Earth That Was.

You are invited to come meet the local color of the station. Rub shoulders with members of Parliament. Spend time with the beautiful ladies and handsome gentleman of the Companion Guild. Enjoy the delights of the festival. Join in the contests and merriment. It is a festival of creativity, romance, and murder!

There is a killer on the loose. He has struck once and may strike again. That's right, besides solving riddle competitions, entering lantern-making contests, and advancing your character's own agenda, there is a murder mystery to solve! Come join us a special event our month-to-month live action role-playing game set in Joss Whedon's Firefly universe; "Lights Out", part of on going story of Ji-Dian Station. This session will occur from 6:00 P.M. to midnight on Friday, March 21st, at Norwescon 31. While this is an ongoing LARP, this special event is open to a limited number of interested convention members. There is no need to have played previously. The plots of this session will be centered on this event and convention members who are not part of the ongoing game will play pre-generated characters that have specific goals and priorities related to this session.

For more information on the game and to sign up, visit http://www.jidianstation.org/norwescon or you can send an e-mail to norwescon@jidianstation.org.

We look forward to role-playing with you!

We are still looking for a venue for the December game. If you know of a location that could work, drop the Game Marshals a line. If we use your location, your character gets an extra 2xp for the night.

Yesterday we did episode 7 (aka game 7) of Ji Dian Station, the Ace Space Race, and we did the big reveal to the players and we firmly established when the game was happening in the minds of the players.

It was great watching the realization dawn on the faces of players as they figured out what they were listening to that interrupted the broadcast of the race. And then watching the characters react to the scientists monologue as it is interrupted.

I am very pleased with the way things went.

Have you made your Norwescon preference known yet? I am closing out the poll on Friday and spending time working with [livejournal.com profile] sylvan to figure out all of the details and get those details to the Programming, Special Events, and Gaming so we can get on the schedule.

Here is the poll: http://community.livejournal.com/jidianstation/1299.html

It really is a good thing that I was ready to print last night because if I hadn't been, I would be up now printing things off for the Firefly game tomorrow. The plan was to go to work early today, do printing, work on bugs, leave early, buy a prop on the way home, and help clean.

So 17 hours after I walked in the office door, I head home. On the positive side, I was able to get the patch installer working for that production issue. I'll be in the office or working from home on Sunday to do the polishing work on it.

So tomorrow I have to finish straightening the solarium, buy the prop, stuff the box, organize the poker chips. All of that fun stuff.

I am now going to go gain negative distance with my bed.

G'night!

...still working.

Fortunately all of the big things for the game are done and all I have to do really is clean. Anyone want to help? :D
fullcontactmuse: (Do I look happy to you)
As it came up once from one person, it could come up again.

Even though I may have to work this weekend, I will be at the Ji Dian Station game tomorrow to run it with [livejournal.com profile] sylvan. :)

Though I may not be at ECC later that night.
fullcontactmuse: (Serenity)
I will have to pick up a set of these for use as props in the LARP.
